Mohawk Elders announced today the opening of graves of children at the oldest Indian residential school in Canada in Brantford, Ontario. They are working with Kevin Annett and the International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS) to bring this evidence of genocide to international courts of justice, where they hope to to indict the Crown of England, the Anglican Church and the Government of Canada, as well as the Catholic and other churches for crimes against humanity.

Mass Graves Of Children Found Near Montreal; Another Duplessis Orphan Tells Of Being Tortured As A Child In CIA Experimentaion Programs Using Nazi Doctors

Pierre Sampson, now 60, is calling for justice an an open investigation to stop the murder of innocent children in government sponsored child experimentation programs. More than 50,000 children said to be illegally experimented but crooked officials on both sides of the border blocking investigation.

By Greg Szymanski

Another Duplessis Orphan has come forward with horror stories, including electro shock therapy, straight jacket sessions and mind altering drugs injections after being subjected to illegal government experimentation programs as a young child.

Pierre Sampson, 60, of Vancouver, Canada endured the torturous treatment for six long years until at the age of 14 when he finally escaped.

But thousands of other Duplessis Orphans weren’t as lucky, as investigators recently uncovered a mass grave outside of Montreal where the bones of hundreds of children are buried in a mass grave.

Called the “pigsty” since the grave site is located next to a hog farm, Rod Vienneau, whose wife was also a child victim, said a push is now underway to exhume the bodies with strong resistance from governments on both side of the border, both denying any involvement in the face of compelling evidence to the contrary.

“I have been researching this atrocity for more than 10 years since my wife went public about being abused as one of the orphans,” said Rod Vienneau this week on Greg Szymanski’s radio show, The Investigative Journal, regarding the Duplessis Orphans, who may number more than 50,000 and named after former Prime Minister Maurice Duplessis, a key figure in the child experimentation cover-up.

“We have documentation proving the link among with the CIA, the United States government and the Canadian government, all of them willing accomplices to the illegal experimentation of children.

“Thousands of children have died, thousands of others have endured great suffering and there remains about 3,000 surviving victims we know about who are still seeking justice. What’s even more astonishing is that the illegal experimentation is still taking place while we speak.”

Sampson, who went public for the first time in the United States on The Investigative Journal, is one of tens of thousands of children who were reduced to experimental guinea pigs by unscrupulous doctors, some known Nazi war criminals in a CIA program starting in the 1950’s

Recently, a Canadian high court in 2004 awarded damages to adult mind control victims in a related case, pinning the CIA with responsibility as well as their unscrupulous doctors, including Dr. Ewin Cameron.

For a further look at Dr. Cameron’s nefarious activities, a book called The Most Dangerous Game traces the history of top-secret CIA mind control operation MK-ULTRA: from the covert importation of NAZI scientists at the end of WWII, to the illegal brainwashing experiments conducted on the patients of psychiatric researcher, Dr Cameron

The same type of testing Dr Cameron and others performed on adults is now being traced  to innocent children, as advocates for the Duplessis Orphans contend their evil knows no age limits.

Regarding Sampson’s personal story, he said at the age of six he was transferred from a Catholic orphanage to a mental institution even though he was both mentally and physically sound as church and civil authorities overnight changed his paperwork, indicating he was mentally ill.

“After researching what happened,” said Sampson, who also appeared this week on The Investigative Journal. “The Church made a deal with the government to turn over perfectly healthy children in return for money, giving the doctors the ability to experiment at will since we were all considered insane.

“To this day my records haven’t been changed. Although I have never been mentally ill, my records still haven’t been changed.”

The link Sampson makes between the infiltrated Catholic Church and corrupted civil authorities is disturbing, indicating a consolidation of corruption not only in government but extending all the way to Rome and beyond.

According to Vienneau and Sampson, this inhumane treatment was accomplished with the full authority, cooperation and funding of the American and Canadian governments together with corrupted elements of the Catholic Church, one of the government’s main suppliers of children used like experimental guinea pigs.

“I hope one day we can get justice and remove this evil element of people from the continent,” said Vienneau. “How can we live in a society and trust a government who is killing our own children? These people will never admit to what they done and the only thing we can do is gather enough support among good people to have these corrupted leaders removed.”

Vienneau also outlined what his main motives are in seeking justice for his wife, Sampson and the many other children abused by the illegal experimentation programs.

“Criminal acts:  Horrific criminal acts were done to thousands of innocent children here on Canadian soil ranging from murders, tortures; disappearance of children; lobotomy’s and experimental drugs and falsely labeling thousands of innocent young children from 1935 to 1975 and nobody has yet been held accountable for these free criminal acts done to the Duplessis orphans.

“Thousands of orphans were falsely labeled mentally ill, and today, this label still hangs heavy on the orphans shoulders, This label has not yet been erased, this alone is a criminal act.

“The Quebec government, the College of Physicians of Quebec; the Roman Catholic church of Quebec; the Quebec Public Trustee;(Guardianship) and the federal government of Canada  and America have not yet acknowledged the harm done to thousands of young children here in Quebec.

“Constitutional Rights : The Quebec government took away the Duplessis orphans rights to defend themselves in a court of law since 1995, all though four members of parliament stated that the orphans could take a lawyer at any time for their case, but it has been 11 years now that many orphans have been trying to get a lawyer for their case but to no avail.

“Lawyer Daniel Lighter, told me flatly that the Duplessis orphans case is locked shut tight since over fifteen years.  The Duplessis orphans have no Constitutional rights, it all boils down to a huge cover up.”

Editor’s Note: It’s beyond the realm of human comprehension how newspaper owners in the mainstream lack the decency to mount an investigation for the memory of all the dead children and the many others who have suffered at the hands of corrupted politicians and church leaders.

By ignoring this story for more than five decades, major newspaper owners in the United States should be branded as co-conspirators along with the corrupted church leaders and politicians, who all march to the altar in lockstep every Sunday with the blood of the Duplessis Orphans dripping from their dirty hands.

This is the REAL reason Pope Benedict resigned. No games. He was facing criminal charges by the People’s Common Law for crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Vatican church. Slaughter of innocent Native children in Canada, poisoning of populations, human trafficking, child torture, and many more things. Someone finally had the courage to stand up. Thank you Kevin Annett. Residential Schools in Canada and USA

In 1928, a government official predicted Canada would end its “Indian problem” within two generations. Church-run, government-funded residential schools for native children were supposed to prepare them for life in white society. But the aims of assimilation meant devastation for those who were subjected to physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Today, aboriginal people share their stories and demand acknowledgement of and compensation for their stolen childhoods.

Communique from The International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS)
The Mass Graves at Brantford:
An Update from the ITCCS Indigenous Elders Advisory Council and Kevin Annett

June 5, 2012

The first successful uncovering of apparent mass graves at a former Indian residential school in Canada began in October, 2011 at the “Mush Hole” Mohawk Institute: the former Church of England (Anglican) facility in Brantford, Ontario.

After being formally authorized by Mohawk elders to begin the inquiry, two teams associated with the ITCCS successfully surveyed the grounds of the Mush Hole with Ground Penetrating Radar. This survey revealed massive soil dislocation in areas where eyewitnesses describe seeing burials of children who died in the Mush Hole.

Based on this discovery, the ITCCS teams sunk two small test digs which revealed positive evidence of burials. These included remains of clothing and buttons positively identified as coming from school uniforms, as well as bone samples which turned out to be primarily animal mixed with probable human remains of small children.

The very success of this dig, and its kindling of similar independent excavations at two other former residential schools during 2012, has sparked a counter-attack by the government of Canada and the Anglican Church which has caused the Brantford inquiry to be put on temporary hold.

This counter-attack has followed the usual pattern of divide and conquer tactics utilizing the already factionalized atmosphere in the Six Nations community in Brantford.

Early in 2012 after the test digs had uncovered the first bone samples, a government-funded operative named Jan Longboat recruited and paid one of the tribal members who had authorized the ITCCS inquiry, Frank Miller, to begin criticizing the inquiry and calling for the expulsion of ITCCS field worker Kevin Annett from the Mohawk community.

Miller successfully factionalized the original group of authorizing Mohawks by stoking fear and spreading state-sponsored smears about Kevin Annett in the community, despite Kevin having been adopted into the Mohawk Nation and given a name.

Nevertheless, to solidify the ITCCS inquiry, in late March, 2012, a new group of ten Mohawk elders and Mush Hole survivors issued a new statement authorizing Kevin Annett and ITCCS to proceed with the Mush Hole inquiry and excavation.

To counter further disruptions and rally native supporters, ITCCS has also established a seven-member Indigenous Elders Advisory Council with representatives from the Cree, Anishnabe, Haudenosaunee, Squamish, Mohawk, Wyandotte, and Maliseet Nations.

The Mush Hole inquiry will be proceeding under the authority of the ten authorizing Mohawk elders, along with a new international team of archaeological and forensic specialists who will seek to recover and identify the remains of children who died at the Mush Hole, for analysis and traditional re-burial.

This inquiry is now joined by similar independent excavations on Cree and Squamish territory, authorized by survivors at the site of residential schools in Ontario and British Columbia.

Obviously, this initiative is a direct challenge to the present state and church-funded whitewash known as Canada’s “truth and reconciliation commission”, which has no mandate to lay criminal charges or search for the remains or cause of death of the 50,000 and more children who died in these schools.

We can therefore expect further efforts by Canada and its guilty churches to disrupt and discredit the independent search for the missing children at the Mush Hole, and elsewhere. And so we urge all people of conscience and all survivors of Canada’s genocide to rally behind our efforts, and to launch similar digs in their own communities.

28 Mass graves of Indian Children in Canada…

by WhiteBisonFollow

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/04/15/496538/-28-Mass-graves-of-Indian-Children-in-Canada

The Mohawk Nation News is reporting that 28 mass graves of many Indian Children have been discovered in Canada.  Many of these are at residential schools.  Some of the schools were government run, others were parochial, including Catholic…I wonder if the pope is aware of this?

Here’s the press release dated April 10, 2008:

We are gathered today to publicly disclose the location of twenty eight mass graves of children who died in Indian Residential Schools across Canada, and to announce the formation of an independent, non-governmental inquiry into the death and disappearance of children in these schools.

We estimate that there are hundreds, and possibly thousands, of children buried in these grave sites alone.

The Catholic, Anglican and United Church, and the government of Canada, operated the schools and hospitals where these mass graves are located. We therefore hold these institutions and their officers legally responsible and liable for the deaths of these children.

We have no confidence that the very institutions of church and state that are responsible for these deaths can conduct any kind of impartial or real inquiry into them. Accordingly, as of April 15, 2008, we are establishing an independent, non governmental inquiry into the death and disappearance of Indian residential school children across Canada.

This inquiry shall be known as The International Human Rights Tribunal into Genocide in Canada (IHRTGC), and is established under the authority of the following hereditary chiefs, who shall serve as presiding judges of the Tribunal:

Hereditary Chief Kiapilano of the Squamish Nation

Chief Louis Daniels (Whispers Wind), Anishinabe Nation Chief Svnoyi Wohali (Night Eagle), Cherokee Nation

Lillian Shirt, Clan Mother, Cree Nation

Elder Ernie Sandy, Anishinabe (Ojibway) Nation

Hereditary Chief Steve Sampson, Chemainus Nation
Ambassador Chief Red Jacket of Turtle Island

An inquiry is scheduled to start today…

Dark secrets of the Catholic Church; Ex nun Confesses

Published on Apr 30, 2012

I saw myself get baptized and anointed with the Holy Ghost and these words were spoken to me “you moved a lot of people”.

That same day I also received the scar print of the nail that pierced Jesus Christs right hand on my right hand, it appeared for a while and then disappeared. I carry the testimony of Jesus Christ,

HE is the son of GOD, sent by the father to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins. GOD rose him from the dead on the third day to justify us by faith and so with the heart man believes unto righteousness (GOD will not know a wicked person and what GOD has done is justified the wicked through the death and resurrection of HIS SON.

We are wicked people in GODS eyes without HIS free gift of righteousness through the Gospel of reconciliation.)

You must be born again…When man sinned in the beginning of creation it killed his spirit which made him spiritually dead and so all of his offspring (who we are) are/were spiritually dead.

So without us doing anything right or wrong, good or evil we were spiritually dead.

This explains why we must be born again of water and the spirit. He who has not the spirit of Christ is non of HIS.

Pray and ask the Father for the gift of the Holy Spirit. You will NOT enter heaven without him. May GOD Bless each and every one of you, LORD willing, in Jesus Christs name, Amen.

The elements of salvation according to the New Testament holy scriptures…

That we believe on Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD sent by the father who shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins, that he was crucified and died and then risen from the dead.

He was raised from the dead and shed his blood to justify us by faith and with the heart man believes unto righteousness. With the mouth confession is made unto salvation…

Those who believe not on Jesus Christ are in spiritual darkness and GODs wrath abides on them.

Unless you repent you will perish so repent ye and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

You must be born again of water and the spirit or you will not enter heaven, without the baptism of the Holy Ghost you do not carry the testimony of Jesus Christ. And in the book of Revelation we find the following verse; and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

We must obey Christ and keep His commandments, Loving GOD with all mind, body, and soul and loving each other. We must bear “Good Fruit”, if we bear “Evil Fruit” We will be cast into the fire.

We are not to hide the word of the Gospel; we are to be instant in season and out of season. There are 2 new laws in the New Testament, the law of the spirit and the law of faith. We must walk according to the spirit putting to death the deeds of the flesh.

We must also keep the faith of Jesus Christ. Get a bible and start reading it now, read it every day. GODS Word is living and active and it sanctifies us by truth, His word is truth. Jesus also told us that he did not come to abolish the law and the prophets of the Old Testament; the Old Testament is also part of our instructions in righteousness.

They will teach us more about the True Jesus Christ of the Holy Scriptures and help us become more pleasing to GOD, growing in Faith, Godliness, and holiness. God gives us our free gift of righteousness when we believe that God rose Jesus Christ from the dead.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Unless our righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees and scribes we will in no wise enter heaven, our own righteousness is nothing but filthy rags….Note; Filthy rags serve a purpose, they save a person from all kinds of embarrassment… We must receive the Kingdom of heaven like a child. (Children are usually ready to learn, they are humble, they ask lots of questions and are usually honest and up front)

We must be conformed to the image of Christ… Trust in Jesus Christ with all your heart. Abide in the doctrine of Christ and walk in the light as He is in the light and the Blood of Jesus Christ will cleanse us from all sin.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: for by faith ye stand; faith also includes Obedience, see Matthew 8:9-10.

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling..
The New Testament is not a covering for willful sinning….

Mass Graves of Children in Canada – Documented Evidence

A Special Report from The International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State

Mass Graves of Children in Canada:
The first documented evidence of the burial of children at a former Indian residential school

Issued by the ITCCS Central Office and Kevin D. Annett during the Ninth Annual Aboriginal Holocaust Memorial Week –

April 25, 2013

In late 2011 in Brantford, Ontario, history was made with the uncovering of forensic evidence of the burial of children at the oldest Indian residential school in Canada.

Despite subsequent attempts by the Church and Crown of England and their aboriginal agents to discredit and conceal this evidence of their crimes, this first unveiling of mass graves has prompted new disclosures of genocide across Canada.

After the first evidence of a mass grave near the Anglican-run Mohawk Institute in Brantford, Ontario was unearthed between September and November, 2011, these agencies that are responsible for the deaths of children at this, Canada’s oldest “Indian residential school”, mounted an enormous sabotage campaign to stop the dig and fog the evidence. That coverup eventually involved the Archbishop of Canterbury in London, Rowan Williams, the Anglican Primate in Canada, Fred Hiltz, and Buckingham Palace.

This sabotage temporarily halted the excavation of the Mohawk Institute graves – the first independent dig ever undertaken at Canadian residential schools. But the evidence uncovered confirmed that children are indeed buried there.

This report is a recapitulation of what was discovered at the Mohawk school, and reminds the world that forensic evidence has now substantiated that the Crown of England, the Vatican and the Canadian government and churches are responsible for the death of more than 50,000 children across Canada.

This report includes original field notes from the Mohawk Institute excavations, video recordings of the dig, and evidence of the bones and bits of school uniforms that were uncovered on the former school grounds, along with other corroborating material.

Background

In April, 2011, ten traditional elders of the Grand River Mohawk Nation issued a written invitation to Kevin Annett and the ITCCS to conduct an inquiry on their land into children who went missing at the nearby “Mush Hole”: their name for the Mohawk Institute, founded in 1832 by the Crown and Church of England, where records indicate that on average 40% of the children died until it closed in 1970. (see Exhibit No. 1, in Appendix, below)

The Mohawk invitation authorized Kevin and his team to work with specialists to survey the old residential school grounds and search for the remains of children whom eyewitnesses claim were buried east of the Mohawk Institute building, which is still intact.

The survey and excavation work on the grounds of the former school began on September 29, 2011, and continued in its first phase for two weeks, until October 11. The second phase, which included intensive excavations that yielded the aforementioned bones and clothing, spanned four days between November 21 and 24, inclusive.

The project’s core team included Kevin Annett and Lori O’Rorke with the ITCCS, four members of the Mohawk nation including two authorizing Mohawk elders, Cheryl and Bill Squire, a Ground Penetrating Radar technician, Clynt King, two consulting forensic and archaeological specialists, Kris Nahrgang of Trent University and Greg Olson with the Ontario Provincial Coroners’ Office, and a senior forensic pathologist, Dr. Donald Ortner of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.

A third and final phase of this initial project occurred during January, 2012, involving interviews with key eyewitnesses who had access to Anglican church archives.

Previous Discovery of Children’s Bones at the Mohawk Institute

Our project was initiated in part because of the discovery of children’s bones near the former Mohawk Institute / “Mush Hole” school building in 2008, and previously, in 1982.

Tara Froman, curator of the Woodland Center – a museum adjacent to the still-standing former Mohawk Institute building – reported to Kevin Annett in April, 2011 that during the reconstruction of the floor of the Woodland Center, sometime in 2008, an employee named Tom Hill found what turned out to be the forearm of an adolescent female.

This bone was analyzed by the Provincial Coroners’ Office and then “locked away” by Barb Harris, an employee of the state-funded Six Nations Confederacy.

A similar incident had occurred during the actual construction of the Woodland Center in the spring of 1982, according to Tara Froman. That construction was stopped because the complete skeleton of a small child was found immediately west of the former Mohawk Institute building.

Froman says that she was sworn to silence about that discovery, and the remains were “taken away” by the Ontario Provincial Police, possibly into “deep storage” at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

The Mush Hole Dig: Phase One (September 29-October 11, 2011)

Phase One of the project involved interviews with Mush Hole survivors and the commencing of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys on the grounds of the former school. The GPR operation was overseen by Clynt King, a technician employed by the local Six Nations Confederacy, a non-traditional state-funded organization.

A group of six survivors of the Mush Hole were gathered and interviewed for clues to the location of possible graves of children at or near the school building. Based on this information, the GPR survey began on the grounds immediately east of the building, on hilly and uneven terrain where school survivor Geronimo Henry reported seeing children buried in in the early 1950′s.

Sure enough, the GPR surveys immediately detected what GPR technician Clynt King referred to as “massive soil dislocation and abnormal disturbances” in the area east of and adjacent to the Mush Hole building. (see Exhibits No. 2 and No.3)

According to King, on the second day of the GPR survey, (September 30, 2011),

“It appears from the radar that at least ten to fifteen feet of soil has been displaced and covered over the original terrain east and southeast of the school building. This is definitely a subsurface anomaly, meaning it’s earth that was dumped there.”

Survivor Geronimo Henry (b. 1936) corroborated on the same day,

“None of that mound was there when I was in the Mush Hole (note: 1944-1953). It was all flat then. This has all been piled up, right where I saw them digging one night and burying a small kid.”

Significantly, in the same general area, Geronimo Henry also claims he saw fellow Mush Hole students being placed in an underground cistern as punishment. Henry states,

“Some of those kids went down in there and never came out again. I remember that happened to a girl who was only nine or ten.”

The cement cistern referred to by Geronimo Henry is about ten feet by sixteen feet in size, and stands immediately south of the main school building’s east (girls’) wing. The cistern’s concrete lid seal is broken, making the underground chamber accessible.

Members of the ITCCS team explored the underground cistern chamber on October 5, 2011 and discovered small, apparently animal bones that were scattered throughout the muddy floor of the concrete interior, along with chairs and other garbage. The team returned that night with a driller and bored into the underground wall facing the school building, finding much loose and displaced soil and a drainage pipe running from the school.

Random children’s graffiti was also detected on the walls, confirming that children had been in the cistern.

On the outside of the school building, opposite from the cistern on the north wall of the school, the top of an archway was also discovered. This archway was almost entirely covered by uneven, compacted soil which survivors Geronimo Henry and Roberta Hill claim had not been there in the 1950′s. It appears that the archway is the top of a buried doorway leading from a lower sub-basement area that has been concealed by soil deposits.

The existence of this sub-basement area is significant, in that other school survivors describe being taken as children for punishment to a chamber “under the basement”. This sub-basement chamber contained rings and shackles on the walls where one survivor who desires anonymity states that she saw children being confined in the year 1959 or 1960.

A cousin of Mohawk elder Yvonne Hill stated on October 6, 2011 that a sealed underground tunnel runs from the same sub-basement chamber through the school’s furnace room to a former Greenhouse on the grounds of the Woodland Cultural Center, and “that’s where they buried the kids who died”.

(Note: the same spot at the Woodland Center is where skeletal remains of children were unearthed and then concealed in 1982 and 2008, see above).

The furnace room’s connection to the alleged underground tunnel may be related to the common practice in Indian residential schools of incinerating the bodies of children and newborns who had died or been killed on the premises.

The GPR survey of the Mush Hole grounds encompassed in total four grid areas to the north and northeast of the building. The total size of the surveyed grids was 400 square meters.

On Day 6 of the GPR survey (October 4), Dale Bomberry, head of Operations for the non-traditional, government-funded Six Nations Confederacy, suddenly denied further use of the GPR equipment to the ITCCS team. Clynt King was ordered by Bomberry to cease his activities and all of the data from the GPR survey was seized by Bomberry.

On Day 8 (October 6), Six Nations Confederacy chief Bill Montour was called to Ottawa for “consultations” with the government.

The same day, threats of physical violence were issued against Kevin Annett by three employees of the Confederacy – Tom Powless, Sean Toulouse and a cousin of Dale Bomberry. That evening, the underground cistern was opened and explored by unknown persons.

On Day 9 (October 7), members of the Men’s Fire, a Mohawk security force working closely with the ITCCS team, discovered many boxes of residential school files in the basement immediately above the apparent sub-basement chamber described above. Within minutes, the Men’s Fire members were stopped by Confederacy staff and photographed on video camera.

The same day, Chief Montour announced that no further support for the Mush Hole inquiry would be offered by the Confederacy, despite Montour having endorsed the survey and dig two days earlier (see Exhibit No. 4, Tekawennake Newspaper October 5, 2011, p. 2).

Consequently, this first phase of the inquiry was suspended on October 11 to allow the sponsoring Mohawk elders and the ITCCS team the chance to assess events and plan how to continue in the face of growing sabotage and resistance by government-funded “chief and council”.

The Mush Hole Dig: Interregnum (October 11-November 21, 2011)

After a series of consultations between the ITCCS team and the sponsoring Mohawk elders, as well as the Men’s Fire Group, it was unanimously decided to continue with the Mush Hole inquiry and excavations, based on what had been discovered until then.

Numerous attempts to contact GPR technician Clynt King and obtain the GPR survey data from the Mush Hole grounds were unsuccessful. King was reportedly “on extended vacation” and the Six Nations Confederacy refused to release the GPR survey data.

Accordingly, it was decided to proceed directly with a test excavation in the area most likely to contain burial sites, based on the GPR survey and eyewitness accounts.

An excavation team consisting of seven people was established, with the Men’s Fire providing site security. The dig team was Kevin Annett (a trained student of archaeology), Cheryl Squire (representing the sponsoring elders), Nicole and Warren Squire, John Henhawk, Frank Miller (videographer) and Yvonne Fantin.

The need for security around the excavation was heightened by continual efforts to sabotage the inquiry on the part of government-paid aboriginal operatives led by Jan Longboat, a local resident. Longboat began approaching the sponsoring Mohawk elders with smears about Kevin Annett and even offers of money.

Consequently, and to build as much international and public support as possible, the excavation team was given absolute authority and permission by the sponsoring Mohawk elders to not simply recover remains on the Mush Hole grounds but to make the findings public, including by sharing them with the media.

This crucial authorization was openly declared and recognized to be part of the ITCCS team’s mandate.

The excavations near the Mohawk Institute building commenced on November 21, 2011.

The Mush Hole Dig: Phase Two – November 21-24, 2011

The excavation team laid out a 30 by 30 foot excavation grid about fifty yards due east of the old school building, on lightly forested ground where witnesses Geronimo Henry and Roberta Hill had seen children buried. The grid was marked in 3 ft. increments and was located and aligned with a GPS locator.

On Day One of the dig, the first grid in the upper left corner of the site, designated Grid A1, was cleared of all underbrush and topsoil, and excavated to a depth of one foot.

Within this first top layer, Level One, two sizable bone fragments were discovered almost immediately, in association with many pieces of glass, coal and bricks. The bones were between two and three inches in length and one of them appeared to be part of a spine, either of animal or human origin. The other, longer bone had clearly been cut or chopped up. (See Exhibit 5)

On Day Two (November 22), new and significant evidence was obtained as a second level was opened between a depth of 12 and 24 inches. This evidence involved many small white and brown buttons made of bone and wood rather than plastic: clearly of a pre-1950 vintage.

These buttons were later positively identified by Mush Hole survivors Geronimo Henry, Roberta Hill and Lorna McNaughton as coming from the uniforms of girls at the school during the 1940′s.

The same style of buttons were continually found in association with more bone fragments, some as large as four inches in length, and several teeth. These bones and teeth, along with considerably more bits of brick and charcoal, proliferated the deeper the team dug, to a final depth of 22 inches. One of the bones had an apparent burn mark, and several other bones bore the signs of having been cut up.

In addition, other articles of clothing were unearthed at this Level Two, including the sole from an early-vintage shoe and pieces of a green-colored woolen blanket that survivor Roberta Hill verified as the kind used in the Mush Hole dormitories. One larger piece of blanket several square feet in size was discolored with a rust-colored stain.

Days Three and Four (November 23-24) unearthed even more significant evidence as the excavation extended to the base of Level Two to a depth of 22 inches; and to a length of 8 ft. 6 inches outside the first Grid A1 into Grid A2.

This evidence consisted of more bone and school button fragments entangled in the roots of a small tree that was uprooted in Grids A1-A2. The significance of finding school buttons tangled in the tree roots is indicated in the statement of Mush Hole survivor Roberta Hill:

“Whenever children died on our dorm they were buried east of the school, and a tree was planted on top of their grave. The staff used to talk about doing that among themselves.”

A sample of these significant button artifacts excavated at the A1-A2 site is found in Exhibit 6.

After Day 4 of the dig, it was decided to temporarily halt the excavation to allow specialists the chance to analyze and identify the artifacts, and to issue a public statement about what we had unearthed.

Post-Excavation Analysis and Response: The Inquiry is Derailed

On December 1, 2011, a meeting of the dig team, the sponsoring Mohawk elders and two forensic specialists was held at the nearby Kanata Center, a half mile from the Mush Hole building and dig site. The Center, operated by traditional, non-government Mohawk elders at odds with the Six Nations Confederacy, served as the operations post for the inquiry.

The two forensic specialists, archaeologist Kris Nahrgang of Trent University and Greg Olson of the Provincial Coroner’s Office, carefully examined the excavated bones from the A1-A2 site and came to the following conclusions about the bones:

1. Olson and Nahrgang both agreed that one of the unearthed bones was part of a small knee socket from “what is probably a small child four or five years old” (Olson). (see Exhibit 7) Olson said, “Personally, I am 95% sure that this is a human bone and I’d stake my reputation on it”.

2. Both men agreed that the dig site should be excavated more to unearth additional evidence, and they recommended that “it is imperative” for a full-scale professional excavation to be launched at the Mush Hole grounds by the spring, after the ground had thawed.

3. Greg Olson recommended that a Provincial Coroner’s Warrant be sought in the light of this probable discovery of human remains, in order to thoroughly search all Anglican church records and buildings for corroborating evidence. Olson pledged his willingness to publicly endorse and participate in such action.

However, less than one week later, on December 6, Greg Olson informed Kevin Annett by phone that he had been reprimanded by his “employer” – presumably the Provincial Coroner’s Office – for partaking in the Mush Hole inquiry, and he was ordered not to do so again, “even during off-work hours”. After that, neither he nor Kris Nahrgang – who refused to answer phone and email messages – continued their involvement with the dig or the ITCCS inquiry. (See Exhibit No. 8 for copies of original Field Notes from the Mush Hole survey and dig).

In response, and following the instructions of the sponsoring Mohawk elders, on December 8, 2011, Kevin Annett mailed thirteen bone samples, including the knee socket identified by Greg Olson and Kris Nahrgang as “probably human”, to Dr. Donald Ortner, the senior Forensic Pathologist at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.

Additional samples were sent to Dr. Ortner on January 10, 2012.

Dr. Ortner communicated by phone to Kevin on January 30 and said that “I tend to lean towards seeing the samples as animal remains”, although he then qualified his statement with the remark,

“Some of them could easily be human, but they’re too small to tell. I’d need to conduct more expensive tests to know for sure”.

Dr. Ortner made it clear that he had only superficially glanced at the samples, but he promised to study them more thoroughly, and he agreed to work with the ITCCS team at the Mush Hole dig in the future.

On April 29, 2012, Dr. Don Ortner died suddenly of an apparent heart attack; he was 73 years old and in excellent health. Just prior to his death, Ortner had spoken to Kevin Annett on the phone and agreed to become involved in the next phase of the Mush Hole dig, by speaking to the Mohawk elders during early May.

Dr. Donald Ortner was a leading world specialist in the identification of diseases in human remains – such as the tuberculosis that the Mush Hole children were deliberately exposed to, and which killed off thousands of residential school students.

During the same period leading up to Dr. Ortner’s death and the sabotage of the Mush Hole dig, between January and May, 2012, a continual campaign of fear and disinformation was launched on the internet and in the Mohawk community against the ITCCS inquiry and Kevin Annett.

This sabotage campaign was led by government operative Jan Longboat, Six Nations Confederacy chief Bill Montour and others in the pay of Longboat, including former dig team member Frank Miller, whom Longboat had, by her own admission, recruited with money payments. This campaign effectively halted the Mush Hole dig and inquiry.

Nevertheless, three Anglican church insiders approached the ITCCS team during the same period with vital information about this silencing and coverup campaign, as well as more evidence of crimes at the Mush Hole.

Leona Moses

On December 2, 2011, Kevin Annett and elder Cheryl Squire were invited by Mohawk resident and former Anglican Church researcher Leona Moses to her home in Oshweken. Moses had contacted Cheryl Squire the day before on her own initiative. She stated to both Kevin and Cheryl as they entered her home,

“I want the truth to get out to the world. The church has been sitting on it for way too long”.

These facts were shared by Leona Moses with Kevin and Cheryl over the next several hours:

1. While employed during 1998 by the Huron Diocese of the Anglican Church of Canada to examine their archives and records from that church’s Mohawk Institute “Mush Hole” school in Brantford, Leona Moses (LM) found documents that showed that children were dying continually at the school over many years, and the church and government knew of these deaths and did nothing to stop or even investigate them.

2. These records were part of a designated “G 12 collection” held in the Huron College archives in London, Ontario under the authority of then-Huron Diocese Bishop Bruce Howe. The records have now been sealed from public access under present Bishop Bob Bennett.

3. LM personally read documents describing the regular practice of denying food and medical aid to children in the Mush Hole, of keeping parents ignorant of their sickened condition, and of temporarily improving food at the school only during official visits by government medical inspectors. These documents had been copied and sent to the Indian Affairs department in Ottawa.

4. After inquiring with Indian Affairs in Ottawa in 1998, LM was told by a department lawyer, “G 12 is closed to the public and can never be discussed”. LM then asked her co-researcher Wendy Fletcher (WF / recently retired head of the Vancouver Shool of Theology) to help her access the records, and was told by WF,

“There are over 30,000 documents in the Diocese archives that are sealed, and lots of them could bring down the church”.

5. LM saw one “particularly damning document” in the archives that she called “a smoking gun”: an “official looking thing, signed and sealed” (LM) dated from the year 1870. It was a formal agreement between the New England Company that established the Mush Hole, the Crown of England/Anglican Church, and non-Mohawk chiefs of the state-run Six Nations Confederacy. The agreement transferred authority over the Mush Hole school to the Confederacy, providing that the school targeted Mohawks for incarceration and extermination. The Confederacy chiefs agreed to cooperate in this plan.

6. LM saw this genocidal document only once, ” and then it went missing, Wendy says into the G 12 collection”. The regular Diocese archivist was then fired. LM was told after that, that to continue working, she would have to agree to being placed under a voluntary gag order or what then-Bishop Bruce Howe called an “oath of silence” for ten years. LM refused and resigned. WF agreed to be gagged by such an order, and served as the Diocese’s “official researcher” after that.

7. Bishop Bruce Howe extended this “oath of silence” to all Diocese employees and clergy. Some clergy resigned or transferred out of the Diocese. WF told LM a few months after the latter had resigned that she, WF, had been threatened with a lawsuit if she disclosed anything in the G 12 collection. LM recalled,

“Wendy Fletcher feared for her life … I offered her sanctuary, especially after one of her secretaries died suddenly after helping Wendy dig deeper into the Mush Hole history in church archives when they were in London, England” (LM, 2 December 2011)

8. Before she resigned from the Diocese research committee, LM saw letters describing how Mush Hole Principal John Zimmerman (served 1936-1948) regularly took girls from the school to private homes of wealthy Brantford residents to rape and traffic them. LM met at least one local woman, a homeless Mohawk in Brantford, who was such a victim.

9. LM also saw documents describing that children in the Mush Hole were deliberately not given warm clothing or pajamas “as a matter of course”, and that sickness and death from the cold was common. These deaths and conditions were regularly reported to the church by Mohawk parents, without any response or amelioration.

10. After his silencing of Diocese staff, Bishop Howe retired and was replaced by present Bishop Bob Bennett, who continued the policy of coverup and silencing. Bennett also ordered the destruction of school records showing the records of students and staff members.

11. Soon after the start of the ITCCS Mush Hole dig in late November, 2011, Bishop Bennett met with LM at her home and demanded to know what she had uncovered in the Diocese archives concerning staff and student records. Bennett confirmed to LM that the church was aware of all the crimes and the deaths of children but for that reason denied any public access to the evidence.

Bennett also described to LM a meeting held in 2006 at the Five Oaks United Church center at which a Member of Parliament, United Church clergy and “some doctors” described killings at the Mush Hole, including the murder of newborn children there and at the local Catholic residential schools.

12. Bishop Bennett also disclosed to LM that the Anglican, Catholic and United churches had made an agreement with the Canadian government whereby the latter (ie, taxpayers) would assume all of the financial liability for the residential school crimes, in return for which the churches would promise to disclose all of their evidence. But (to quote Bennett),

“We agreed among ourselves that we could never release certain kinds of information, even if it meant reneging on our promise”

13. After Bishop Bennett’s remarks that indicated the Anglican church had committed deliberate fraud on the Canadian people, LM went to Canadian Anglican Primate Fred Hiltz and asked him to order Bennett to open the G 12 archive. Hiltz refused to do so, claiming, untruthfully, “I have no authority over the Bishops”.

14. LM learned that the Mush Hole’s founding agency, the New England Company based in London, England, still funds “Anglican Mohawks” and that the Queen’s chaplain, Bishop John Wayne, has played a direct role in ordering the permanent sealing of the G 12 collection.

15. LM gave many of these facts to the Canadian media early in the year 2008, but only one newspaper, the Tekawennake in Brantford, printed some of her remarks. Teka editor Jim Windle did not explain why he edited LM’s story and refused to share the story with the world media, as LM had requested.

Leona Moses reiterated again to Kevin and Cheryl before they left her home,

“The church must be brought to justice … please get this story out. I’ve been threatened by Bob Bennett if I keep speaking to you”.

Two Anglican Church sources: Spring 2012

After news of the shut down of the Mush Hole dig circulated throughout the internet, two other Anglican church insiders approached Kevin Annett with information.

One of these insiders still worked in the Toronto Diocese office of the Anglican church, and another was an employee of the church in a liaison capacity with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s office until the fall of 2009.

The present employee told Kevin that in mid January, 2012, Primate Fred Hiltz had been issued a direct order by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams to “permanently bury or destroy” any evidence that might implicate the church or “Her Majesty” in the death of children at the Brantford Mush Hole school. Hiltz commented on the request to his secretary, who passed in on to the employee.

The second, former church employee told Kevin that before he resigned from his position liaising with London, he had been told of a “serious leak” in the church archival system that implicated unnamed members of the Royal family with “mishaps” at an Indian school in Canada.

The former employee did not know whether this referred to the allegation from eyewitness William Combes that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip had been seen taking ten aboriginal children from the Kamloops Catholic residential school in October, 1964 during a verified state visit, after which none of the children were ever seen again. But the employee said,

“It was serious enough for the Archbishop to intervene personally and order a clean sweep of the archives in Canada and London”.

Summary and Conclusion

In the light of these events and discoveries, the ITCCS Central Office has concluded the following:

1. The remains of children are interred on the grounds of the former Anglican Mohawk Institute Indian residential school in Brantford, Ontario.

2. These remains and other artifacts that have been unearthed on these grounds verify eyewitness accounts of how children who died at the Mohawk Institute were buried.

3. These children who died were the victims of a deliberate genocidal plan devised and implemented in 1870 by the Church and Crown of England and their accomplices in the Six Nations Confederacy and government of Canada.

4. The evidence of these deaths and burials has been deliberately concealed and destroyed by members of the Anglican Church and the Church and Crown of England, aided by members of the Six Nations Confederacy. This concealment amounts to a deliberate and ongoing Criminal Conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

5. The first independent inquiry into these deaths and burials was overtly sabotaged by these church and government bodies. Accordingly, the ITCCS and groups outside of Canada must intervene to continue the excavation of these buried remains at the Mohawk Institute in order to a) provide a proper burial for these remains, b) determine the cause of death and other facts surrounding these children, and c) use this evidence to bring further criminal charges against those persons and institutions responsible.

In early April, 2013, the ITCCS Central Office received a new invitation and endorsement by elders of the traditional Mohawk Nation to continue the Mush Hole excavation with their permission on the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute in Brantford.

In the light of the Common Law Court indictment and sentencing of the Crown of England, Canada and its churches for Crimes against Humanity on February 25, 2013 – a verdict based partly on the evidence acquired at the Mush Hole excavations in 2011 – Canada, the Crown and its police forces have lost any authority to prevent such a continued excavation on the grounds of the Mohawk Institute in Brantford.

Those indicted persons who have actively subverted the Mush Hole dig, including the Prime Minister of Canada, the Queen of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Anglican Bishops Fred Hiltz, Bruce Howe and Bob Bennett, in fact face immediate arrest under outstanding Citizen Arrest Warrants for their complicity in obstructing justice.

Considering these developments, a new ITCCS forensic team equipped with professional specialists will be dispatched to Mohawk territory to proceed with this inquiry.

This team will be accompanied and protected by International Common Law Court officers who will provide security at the new Mush Hole excavations in conjunction with traditional Mohawk peace keepers. The Brantford excavation site and other locations are presently under close observation and lock-down by Mohawk traditional elders and Common Law Court officers.

These same Common Law Court officers will be armed with the power to arrest and detain not only the aforementioned church and crown officials and those who assist them, but anyone who disturbs or interferes with the excavation on the Mush Hole grounds.

We acknowledge and thank the traditional Mohawk people who are standing by this historic campaign and helping win justice for the missing children. We ask for the active support of all people of conscience.

Catholic mass grave sites of 350,800 missing children found in Ireland, Spain, Canada

Catholic mass grave sites of 350,800 missing children found in Ireland, Spain, Canada

** MAIL ON SUNDAY - ONE USE ONLY - NO LIBRARY - NO SYNDICATION***lcopl_005a (300).tif

The atrocity of close to 800 emaciated childrens’ bodies buried in a Irish Nuns’ septic tank represented the 34th child mass grave site linked this week to the Catholic Church. Pope Francis was being prosecuted by the International Common Law Court of Justice (ICLCJ) in Brussels for allegedly trafficking 300,000 children of political prisoners through Vatican Catholic Charities during Argentine’s Dirty War. According to witness testimony last week some of those orphans ended up in a child mass grave site in Spain. Last year’s ICLCJ prosecution concerned 50,000 missing native Canadian children. There have been 32 child mass grave sites uncovered so far in Canada, most of them on Catholic-run native residential school grounds.

Unfortunately the over 350,800 children suspected to be in Catholic child mass graves sites in three countries paled in number to Catholic Priest sex abuse victims across the globe. As of November 2013 over ten million Catholic Priest child sex abuse cases have been documented as shown here. These 10,077,574 cases represented a mere fraction of total crimes committed. Only an estimated 10% of sex abuse victims were thought to speak out about their sex abuse and just 10% of those cases saw the inside of a court room.

Amnesty has been offered to citizens or employees of the Crown of England and Vatican willing to give sworn testimony or evidence that leads to the prosecution of top Vatican and government officials who may have committed crimes. For providing evidence rewards up to 10,000 euros or around 13,660 dollars was available through the ICLCJ court.

The Irish child mass grave site containing bodies of children from age two days to nine years, was located at a now-defunct Catholic home for unwed mothers. According to death records, the little ones were fragile, pot-bellied, emaciated and died as late as 1961 from malnutrition and infectious diseases such as measles and TB.

Children of the Canadian Catholic native residential schools were determined to have been murdered or died of malnutrition, human experimentation, torture, Small Pox infection or as Eyewitness Irene Favel testified in this video, were thrown into a furnace. Favel claimed that in 1944 she witnessed a newborn infant incinerated by a priest at Muscowegan Catholic Indian School, Saskatchewan Canada. The child torture was documented for court in Kevin Annett’s “Hidden No Longer” available for free here.

The Bon Secours Sisters ran the Irish mass grave site and “mother and baby home” called St Mary’s in Tuam north of Galway city. The Catholic “home” had a reputation for children dying at a rate four times higher than the rest of Ireland. Unwed mothers were punished as “atonement for their sins” by being forced to give up their children and working for two or three years without wages.

The 2013 award-winning drama film “Philomena” depicted the plight of 2,200 infants who survived Ireland’s Catholic homes. The children were forcibly adopted or placed into child labor situations, mainly in the US. Catholic officials have consistently denied they received payments for these so-called “adoptions” and insisted verifying documents were lost in a fire.

The Vatican, British Crown and Canadian government have refused excavation of the 32 Canadian mass grave sites believed filled with native children. Before licensed archeologists were turned away, human remains of children were uncovered at the larger sites in Brantford Ontario and Port Alberni British Columbia Canada.

Critics contended the Catholic Church had an ongoing reluctance to hand over internal records of Vatican Catholic Charities out of fear further horrors could come to light. Such was in the case of the Irish Magdalene Laundries where unwed mothers performed forced labor without compensation to four Catholic orders. After years of successful litigation on the case victims still remain uncompensated.

A present day victim of the Catholic Church was Jamaican and British Soldier Vivian Cunningham. He remained drugged in the St. George’s Hospital in Stafford England (ph: 44 01785 257888) for asking questions about Queen Elizabeth’s arrest warrant. The 2013 ICLCJ court found Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip guilty of kidnapping on Oct. 10 1964, ten native children from the Catholic-owned Kamloops residential school in British Columbia Canada. British citizen David Compan and his wife were accosted, drugged, arrested and incarcerated without charges in the London Park Royal Mental Health Center. Compan’s sin? He posted Queen Elizabeth’s arrest warrant on a Catholic Church in London. Compan’s arrest was captured in this video.

The Roman Catholic Church has “systematically” protected predator priests, allowing “tens of thousands” of children to be abused, a United Nations committee reported directly after Pope Francis became pontiff. In May the United Nations Committee Against Torture gave the Vatican one year to demonstrate their commitment to recommendations made in their latest UN report on Crimes Against Children by the Catholic Church.

The ICLCJ court case in Brussels charging Pope Francis and other global elites for Crimes Against Humanity was expected to extend for over a year. Last year’s ICLCJ court found 40 global elites guilty and ended with the unprecedented resignation of former Pope Ratzinger.

The ICLCJ has over 450 Common Law Peace Officers in 13 countries, with 51 local chartered groups operating. Local organizing funds were available through the ITCCS for common law groups that applied. Truth and Native Abuse

How one man’s wild claims threaten success of Truth and Reconciliation.

Kevin Annett

Kevin Annett: dubious mission.

When Noam Chomsky says Canada’s famously defrocked United Church minister Kevin Annett is “more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than many who have received it in the past,” you can take his word for it if you want. And if you like, you can believe Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairead Corrigan-Maguire of the Belfast Peace People when she calls Annett “a courageous and inspiring man.”

It’s important to be fair, and to allow that sometimes people say things without really knowing what they’re talking about and they might one day regret the things they’ve said.

But if you do believe these things, I’m afraid there are quite a few more things you are going to have to believe, because you can’t have it both ways. If Kevin Annett really is prize-worthy and courageous, you will also have to believe this:

-One of Canada’s most respected First Nations’ leaders is trafficking in children from Northern British Columbia in a profitable pedophilia ring that’s run out of the West Hastings Street premises of the swish Vancouver Club. His clients are Vancouver judges, politicians, and church leaders.

-Back in the 1930s, a team of German doctors arrived at the Kuper Island Indian residential school and began conducting strange medical experiments on the children. Employing large hypodermic needles, they injected some sort of toxin directly into the chests of the school’s young inmates, and several were killed as a result.

-As recently as the 1950s and 1960s, aboriginal children at a Vancouver Island medical research facility were tortured with electrodes implanted in their skulls. At least one child was beaten to death with a whip fitted with razors.

-At the Hobbema and Saddle Lake Indian residential schools in Alberta, children were incinerated in furnaces. At St. Anne’s Indian residential school in Fort Albany, Ontario, children were executed in an electric chair. At McGill University in Montreal, there is a mass grave containing the bodies of aboriginal children killed in experiments undertaken by the Central Intelligence Agency’s top-secret MK-ULTRA program.

These are just a few of the stories Annett has been circulating since the early 1990s. He has failed to produce a shred of evidence. RCMP investigators who have looked into Annett’s allegations always come up empty. Some of these stories the RCMP hasn’t investigated because nobody’s reported them, for reasons Annett explains as a distrust of the police.

‘Eagle Strong Voice’ and his followers

If you think this sort of thing is courageous to the point of being worthy of the Nobel Prize, then you may be happy to know that Annett is busy with another one of his crusades against church and state, with new claims about a network of mass graves across Canada containing the remains of perhaps thousands of aboriginal children, murdered by priests and nuns.

You might also be pleased to know that Annett is back with a new name (he has lately taken to calling himself Eagle Strong Voice) and his followers have established a new group, called the Friends and Relatives of the Disappeared, and they’re off on a “wave of church occupations” across Canada.

Their routine is to show up with the media in tow, and then issue eviction notices, and then submit unanswerable demands that the churches confess to the mass graves they’ve been hiding. And then they demand that the churches return the remains of the children they’ve killed to the tribes they came from.

It all started in the early 1990s, when Annett was a promising but problematic novice minister whose first assignment was to serve the dwindling, white working-class congregation of St. Andrew’s in the mill town of Port Alberni. It wasn’t long before senior United Church officials discovered to their dismay that Annett was turning his Sunday services into something resembling a series of cathartic, guerilla-theatre testimonials about Satanic ritual abuse. The long and short of it is the United Church put its foot down. Its version of events is a matter of public record.

Annett’s version appears in his self-published Hidden from History: The Canadian Holocaust, his autobiographical Love and Death in the Valley, and his recently-released, 110-minute autobiographical documentary, Unrepentant: Kevin Annett and Canada’s Genocide.

If you like, you can believe that the reason 10 Canadian publishers turned down Annett’s first book, and the reason why his second book appears under the imprint of 1st Books Library, a vanity press in Bloomington, Indiana, and the reason his documentary was also produced in the United States, is that the powers that be in Canada are determined to conceal their terrible crimes.

Or, you might instead take into account the fact that Annett’s stories are the subject of Canadian court injunctions claiming libel and defamation. Annett has responded to these legal admonitions by pleading with Amnesty International for adoption as a “prisoner of conscience.” Amnesty has declined to oblige him.

Journalists compound the harm

Still, Annett is interviewed sympathetically on CBC’s As It Happens, and it is commonplace for journalists to report Annett’s claims unchallenged, no matter how bizarre, and without first inquiring into his history of allegation-making. His documentary film Unrepentant has earned favourable reviews in such “progressive” Canadian journals as Briarpatch. It has won awards at independent film festivals in New York and Los Angeles.

This matters.

It matters because the story of secret residential-school mass graves is an urban legend.

For years, RCMP investigators have been chasing down these stories and they always come up with nothing. But they persist, like the alligators in New York’s sewers.

It matters because the thousands of aboriginal people who really did suffer unspeakable torment in residential schools deserve something rather more from us than our complicity in the act of dumping their very real suffering down a rabbit hole into the same parallel universe where you’ll find alien abductions, Masonic plots, crop circles, and 9-11 conspiracies.

It matters for lots of reasons.

Annett enjoys the backing of not a single representative tribal organization, and in early April, when he released what he claims is a list of the locations of 28 mass graves of children who died in church-run residential schools, he also announced the formation of the “International Human Rights Tribunal into Genocide in Canada” to carry out its own investigations.

At risk, Truth and Reconciliation

Meanwhile, after a generation of bitter and hard-fought struggle, the Assembly of First Nations, the Canadian churches that ran the schools and the federal government have embarked upon a $2 billion settlement process that includes the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

On April 28, Justice Harry S. LaForme, a judge on the Ontario Appeals Court and a member of the Mississauga Nation, was appointed its chairman. The commission, inspired by the post-apartheid stabilization process in South Africa, will soon begin its hearings.

Among ordinary Canadians, there already exists a perfectly understandable but stubborn reluctance to believe the heart-rending truth about what actually did happen in some of those institutions. The abuse and the cruelty was sometimes almost beyond belief. And there is no shortage of pundits in this country who are all too eager to encourage that tendency to disbelieve the survivors’ stories.

If the Truth and Reconciliation Commission gets dragged into the strange, alternative reality where Annett and his followers thrive, the commission’s purpose could be easily defeated. If that happens, we will have lost an historic opportunity to see justice properly done in finally turning the page on one of the darkest and most disgraceful chapters in Canadian history.

Blind alleys

This matters.

It matters because Annett has alleged that perhaps “hundreds” of tiny corpses are buried in a mass grave behind a former United Church residential school building situated on Tseshaht reserve land, near Port Alberni — and now I want you to stop reading this for a moment and try to imagine what it would be like to be a Tseshaht person reading that same sentence. Tseshaht Chief Coun. Les Sam says he can’t imagine what Annett is taking about.

It matters because at Kuper Island, where the Penelakut people have lived from time out of mind, Annett has reported unmarked graves associated with murders at the Catholic residential school that once operated there. Islander Robert Sam, a Penelakut elder who attended the residential school, says he’d heard stories about school children who drowned trying to swim away from the school, but no, certainly nothing about these graves.

Annett and his followers have alleged there are skeletons “between the walls” and under the foundations of buildings at Alert Bay, on Cormorant Island. Namgis tribal administrator George Speck says “no one has a clue” what would make Annett say these things. At Meares Island, Annett says corpses of schoolchildren were stored in the basement of a residential school building, and the bodies of other children are buried in an unmarked grave nearby. Ahousat Coun. Angus Campbell says it’s nonsense: “People would know if it was there.”

It goes on and on like this, but if you persist in pointing out the spectacular unlikelihood that any of Annett’s stories are true, you will almost certainly find yourself accused of “smearing” him. That’s what happens if you’re white, anyway. If you’re aboriginal, you may find yourself called a “police informant” or a “provocateur,” or you’ll be accused of having been a “collaborator and abuser” during your time in residential school. Annett has levelled just these accusations against his detractors.

He has accused them as well of complicity in “a criminal conspiracy to perpetrate and conceal acts of war, genocide, murder, ethnic cleansing, slave labour, sterilization, land theft, pedophilia” and other such crimes, and accused of conspiring to assault Annett, defraud him, and defame him in order to conceal those crimes.

Among those individuals who stand accused of these things are several Canadian journalists, judges, and corporate executives, former prime minister Jean Chretien, the RCMP, the United Church of Canada, former United Nations’ Human Rights Commission chair Mary Robinson, former New Democratic Party cabinet minister John Cashore, and the Nuu-chah-nuulth Tribal Council. Even Annett’s ex-wife has been implicated.

Paranoid accounts?

Everybody’s out to get him. His supporters die mysteriously, there are shadowy stalkers, night-time visits from people who dump dead deer on his porch, and a “goon squad” run by the federal government. Mysterious people severed the brake lines on Annett’s car, twice. Bureaucrats with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia levy suspiciously high fines when Annett gets into car accidents. Even corrupt tax collectors from the Canada Revenue Agency are in on it. Believe it if you like. But the truth of all this actually matters.

It matters to me because I can count several old friends and colleagues among the people who show up as villains, collaborators and stooges in Annett’s conspiracy, and I know a thing or two about Annett from when we were both young socialists, back in the 1970s.

It’s personal because as a young reporter, I covered trials of pedophile priests. I came to know their victims as friends. I also came to know brave and kind clergymen who taught in residential schools, and I co-authored a book about residential schools with the former inmates of St. Mary’s Mission.

One does not need to exaggerate or embellish anything about what happened in those places.

The terrible reality

It has lately become routine to hear Annett defended along the lines of, well, he may be wrong about some things, but at least he is bringing this terrible history into the light. Or he is forcing us to confront a “Canadian holocaust” that the news media in this country finds too hot to handle.

This is not true, either. You could fill a steamer trunk with clippings of articles about Indian residential schools that have appeared in Canadian newspapers in recent years. There have been stories about the chronic sexual abuse in the schools. There have been reports from criminal trials. There have full accounts of the policies and laws and regulations that were intended to employ the schools in a project of churning out obedient regiments of brown-skinned white people.

There have been feature treatments of the schools’ degeneration into child-labour camps, and the part the schools played in reducing once-proud nations to broken remnants. And there have been stories about the heroic efforts First Nations’ leaders have made to force the churches and the federal government to squarely face all that shame.

There were front-page stories a century ago, too. In 1897, senior Indian Affairs officials started blowing the whistle on the cavernous, shoddily-built, creaking institutions, pointing out that you couldn’t have built more efficient incubation vectors for contagious disease, and for mass death, if you tried.

Back then, P.H. Bryce, the Indian department’s chief medical officer, conducted a study of 1,500 children interned in 15 different Indian residential schools across Canada. He found that one in four of the children never made it out alive. A separate study of the Kuper Island school found that four of every 10 children sent there over a 25-year period never survived to graduate.

This is sufficiently damning. It is not necessary to assert, as Annett does, that infectious diseases were deliberately employed as part of a plot to “cull” Canada’s aboriginal population. Everybody knows what happened. It is no secret, and is not even a secret that there are mass graves.

This is not a revelation.

From the late 18th century until well into the 20th century, wave after wave of epidemic diseases rolled through Indian villages across the Canadian prairies. The sicknesses swept over the mountains, down through all the valleys of the western slopes, up and down the West Coast, and up and back again.

At the time of the first smallpox epidemic, almost a third of the aboriginal people in what is now Canada lived in the tribal territories that came to be called British Columbia. Then there was smallpox, measles, chickenpox, diphtheria, influenza, mumps, tuberculosis, and typhoid. By the 1950s, the countryside was a vast, forested necropolis.

This is not a hidden history.

A landscape of tombs

This history lives on in the epics handed down in the oral literature of the aboriginal peoples, and in the horrific first-hand accounts of settlers and missionaries. It survives in fur trade journals, colonial correspondence, newspaper accounts, hospital records, Indian residential school studies, and sometimes in the very shape of the land itself.

There is hardly a cove or a bay in the 1,500 sea miles between Victoria and Gingolx where you can put a shovel in the ground without unearthing human bones. In the interior, anyone who has spent any time traversing the territories of the Stlatlimx, the N’lakapamux, the In-Shuck-ch or the Secwepemc will have noticed the tumuli, the overgrown burial places, the forlorn little cemeteries. And you will hear the stories from the people themselves.

You don’t even have to leave town. In almost all the reserve villages remaining around Vancouver and Victoria, you will see that beside the old churches, there are plots filled with simple wooden crosses, or sometimes just mounds, where crosses may once have been. Now and then you will even come across rusted and gnarled pieces of iron sticking up out of the ground, from what’s left of the graceful, wrought iron crosses of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

These graves come from the times when the sick died so quickly and in such numbers that it’s a wonder the few survivors could bring themselves to bury the dead at all.

Indian country, as we used to call it, is a vast landscape of tombs. And the dead are still there, among and between the houses of reborn, thriving villages, and among and between the crumbling ruins of mission chapels, church-run tuberculosis hospitals, dormitories, and residential schools.

After all this suffering, the very least we owe the dead, and the living, is the truth.
